Want a job? Networking! That’s the name of the game!
Those were the words constantly repeated in my business classes. I remember sitting there, grinning to myself, and thinking: Is this all it takes? Maybe this job hunting thing would be easier than I thought.
So I set to work. I combed through LinkedIn, crafted a dozen cold emails and blasted them off to any person willing to give me 30 minutes of their time.
Months passed. And ….I quickly burned out. Before getting to the actual conversation, the logistics to make it happen were extremely draining / cumbersome. Managing the calendar, locations, and emails back-and-forth became increasingly difficult – and I ended up giving it up for a number of years.
But then I moved to SF, and my good friend Aakash recommended a great service: Weave Concierge. It impressed me so much that I wanted to write about it.
Weave Concierge is a free tool that gives you personalized professional introduction every week. Currently only available in SF, the service takes care of all the lengthy process that goes before networking. So all you have to do is enjoy meeting people (instead of the hours of just setting it up)!
How does it work?
- Select the type of people you want to meet and a time preference (either Friday @ 10am or 2pm, or Saturday @ 10am)
- Once a week, the Concierge emails you if you want to meet someone. If yes, then it finds someone for you to meet at your desired time.
- If you agree, it automatically creates a calendar invite with their contact details, meeting location, and timing! All you have to do is just go.
